The session generated significant interest — a full room, active discussion, and questions spanning technology, commercial deployment, and the broader offshore-energy opportunity in the North and Baltic Sea region. The future of offshore energy will not be single systems — it will be hybrid. We presented our vision for the next generation of offshore energy: an 850&#160;kW floating hybrid platform combining wave, wind and solar in one integrated structure, delivering stable and continuous clean electricity at competitive economics. Later iterations are set for 3&#160;MW and 5&#160;MW sizes. The conversations reinforced what we are increasingly hearing across Europe: the offshore energy transition is accelerating. Poland&#8217;s Baltic Sea is being transformed by large-scale offshore wind. The logical next step is hybrid systems that improve stability, increase energy density per sea area, and reduce dependence on storage and backup generation. That is the problem NoviOcean exists to solve. From early wave-energy testing to full triple-hybrid offshore systems. Our NO3 prototype is currently deploying at our offshore test site near Stockholm — onboard visits welcome. Phase&#160;1 commercial pilot deployment is targeted for 2026–2027. For illustration. ASEAN has thousands of inhabited islands and a great deal of coastal industry, which is why ocean energy is becoming a live question in the region. NoviOcean joined the BAPSEA joint delegation visit to Singapore, organised by Business Sweden and the Swedish Energy Agency. The company was represented by its Business Development Director, Variya Kietprungvej, who presented the Medi Wave 850H hybrid wave, wind and solar platform at the Singapore&#8211;Sweden Innovation Forum during Singapore International Energy Week. Why the room mattered The forum put Swedish energy companies in front of government authorities, innovation bodies and industry representatives working on the region&#8217;s supply. Two things about ASEAN make ocean energy a practical conversation there rather than a theoretical one: demand is growing quickly, and a large share of the population lives on or beside a coastline with limited land available for generation. What was presented One floating structure carrying three sources &#8212; wave, wind and solar &#8212; rated 850&#160;kW in total: 300&#160;kW wave, 350&#160;kW wind, 200&#160;kW solar. management estimate Roughly 65&#160;per&#160;cent of that rated capacity comes from established specialist technologies supplied by others; NoviOcean&#8217;s own contribution is the wave system and the integration. management estimate Marine integration and final configuration still require engineering and validation. Where it goes NoviOcean is building its presence in Asia through exactly this kind of route: national delegations, energy authorities and industrial partners, rather than direct-to-market selling. For illustration. India has one of the world&#8217;s longer coastlines and a large installed offshore-energy industry; both were the subject of the meetings described here. Following the Dubai leg of the same trip, NoviOcean&#8217;s founder and CEO, Jan Skjoldhammer, travelled to India at the invitation of Dr.&#160;Biswajit Roy for the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference 2025. He presented, and joined the expert panel on emerging technologies &#8212; geothermal, tidal and wave energy. The meetings Four conversations followed. All of them were discussions; none of them is an agreement. Hon. Shri Kanubhai Desai, Minister for Finance, Energy &#38; Petrochemicals &#8212; a private meeting on where hybrid offshore generation could fit the state&#8217;s energy plans. Mr. Rajendra J. Vala, GUVNL &#8212; discussed the financing of a first Indian NoviOcean pilot producing both clean power and desalinated water. Mr. Ajay Dashore, ONGC &#8212; discussed financing a first Medi Wave 850H and the idea of repurposing offshore rigs for renewable production of hydrogen, ammonia, ethanol, electricity or water, taken ashore through pipelines that are already there. That thinking sits under Further Applications. Dr. Sudheer Joseph, INCOIS &#8212; discussed support for a research-based pilot at the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. What is and is not settled Counting the UAE conversations from the first half of the trip, four parties management estimate have expressed interest in participating in the financing of a first full-scale pilot, in part or in full. That is where it stands: interest, in discussion, nothing signed. The engineering sequence is unaffected by any of it. The NO3 triple-hybrid demonstrator is the current stage (2026, TRL&#160;6&#8211;7); the full-scale Medi Wave 850H pilot is the next major phase, 2027&#8211;2028, TRL&#160;7&#8211;8. projected Why India India combines a long coastline, a large offshore industry with existing platforms and pipelines, growing coastal demand and islands that are expensive to supply. Those are the same conditions that make the technology interesting in the Philippines, Indonesia, the Caribbean and the Atlantic islands &#8212; the markets set out under Applications and priced under Remote Islands &#38; Coastal Communities. For illustration. The meetings described here concerned a first full-scale Medi Wave 850H pilot, which is the next major phase of the programme rather than a system in operation. In October 2025 NoviOcean&#8217;s founder and CEO, Jan Skjoldhammer, spent ten days between Dubai and India. The purpose was simple: meet the people who finance and operate energy infrastructure in regions where electricity is expensive, demand is growing and there is a great deal of coastline. Dubai Jan attended the 11th Annual International Business Forum, hosted by Sayyed Abbas Shah, which brings together people from the energy and investment community. During the visit he was invited to the office of H.E. Dr.&#160;Juma Madani, Chairman of Al Matiya Investment and Al Awad Petroleum, for a longer discussion. The conversation covered how hybrid offshore generation might fit the UAE&#8217;s long-term sustainability objectives, and what a first project in the region would involve. It was a discussion. Nothing was agreed and nothing is signed. India From Dubai, Jan continued to India at the invitation of Dr.&#160;Biswajit Roy, to the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference 2025. That leg &#8212; the ministerial meeting, the utility and offshore-operator conversations and the research-institute discussion &#8212; is covered in its own piece: India&#8217;s momentum in clean offshore energy. Where this leaves the pilot Across both countries, four parties management estimate have expressed interest in participating in the financing of a first full-scale NoviOcean pilot. In September 2025, WoodChuck.ai published a short clip in which Todd Thomas discusses NoviOcean. His framing is worth repeating because it is not the one an engineer would reach for first: the design looks unconventional, and the reason it looks that way is the idea underneath it. The framing, as WoodChuck.ai put it Use one floating platform to capture wave energy. Put solar on top of it. Add wind turbines to the same deck. Then you no longer need to build, moor, cable and maintain three separate offshore projects to collect three sources. WoodChuck.ai&#8217;s conclusion is that this is the sort of outside-the-box thinking that helps clean energy reach scale &#8212; innovation, in their words, does not always look the way we expect. What NoviOcean would add The observation is right, and it is the design brief. NoviOcean&#8217;s own way of stating it is that the expensive parts of an offshore project are the ones that are not the generator &#8212; the structure, the mooring, the export cable, the lease area, the vessel time &#8212; and that all of them can be shared. Waves keep running long after the wind drops; solar peaks in the middle of the day. Fewer hours with everything low at once means less storage bought to cover the gaps &#8212; see Key Advantages. Putting them on one platform changes what the project costs to build and how much sea it uses. The Medi Wave 850H: wave, wind and solar on a single floating structure. Build offshore wind, and you build a structure, a mooring system, an export cable, a permit, a lease area and a maintenance route. Build offshore solar next to it, and you build all six again. Add wave, and you build them a third time. Each source carries the full weight of an offshore project on its own. That is the part of offshore energy that has never been about the generator. What sharing removes NoviOcean puts wave, wind and solar on one floating structure. One set of everything that is not the generator: one hull and one steel structure one mooring and anchoring system one export cable to shore one permit and one lease area one installation campaign, one maintenance route, one vessel visit The three sources are also complementary rather than simultaneous. Solar peaks in the middle of the day; wind runs on its own cycle; waves keep running long after the wind has dropped, because water carries so much more mass than air. The result is fewer hours in which everything is low at once &#8212; the argument set out with the production profiles on Key Advantages. 2&#215; the energy of offshore wind from the same sea area &#8212; the reason the shared structure matters where sea space is contested. modeled Where the capability comes from The Medi Wave 850H is rated 850&#160;kW: 300&#160;kW wave, 350&#160;kW wind, 200&#160;kW solar. management estimate About 65&#160;per&#160;cent of that rated capacity comes from technologies developed by specialists &#8212; Wind Harvest vertical-axis turbines, in substantial full-scale development at approximately TRL&#160;7 and progressing toward TRL&#160;8 and certification, and Midsummer CIGS solar, a commercially established technology at approximately TRL&#160;9. NoviOcean&#8217;s own wave system is presently TRL&#160;6 and progressing toward TRL&#160;7, and is built on hydropower principles and industrial components that have been in use for well over a century. The steel is conventional welded shipyard engineering. Marine integration and final configuration still require engineering and validation &#8212; that is the honest state of it, and it is what the development programme exists to close. What it costs NoviOcean publishes customer cost as a staged figure rather than a single number, because the number moves with deployment volume: Stage&#160;A, the commercial pilot: approximately 4&#8211;8&#160;c&#8364;/kWh. projected At 200&#8211;1,000 units, fully commercial scale with minimal subsidy: 2&#8211;5&#160;c&#8364;/kWh. projected These figures refer to unit-level generation cost, excluding site-specific infrastructure such as grid connection, export cabling or local permitting. It is that it produces more steadily &#8212; and steadiness is what storage is normally bought to fake. The Medi Wave 850H. For illustration only &#8212; the actual design is shared in closer dialogues. Ask what an offshore project costs and the answer usually stops at the generator. It should not. A source that disappears for long stretches has to be covered, and covering it &#8212; with batteries, with fossil backup, with overbuilt capacity &#8212; is where a large part of the real system cost sits. Which is why the useful question about a hybrid platform is not how much it produces. It is how often it produces nothing. Wave and wind are off-phased Solar heating drives the atmospheric wind systems. Wind transfers energy into ocean waves over time and distance. Because water carries so much more mass than air, waves continue long after the winds subside &#8212; and as the waves gradually decline, the wind systems are rebuilding. The cycle repeats. NoviOcean&#8217;s founder asked a different one &#8212; why is there only one device on the structure? For illustration only &#8212; the actual design is shared in closer dialogues. Offshore renewable development has largely been a search for a better single device. A better turbine. A better float. A better flap. Each of those searches is worth running, and each one ends with a structure in the sea that harvests exactly one thing. The structure is the expensive part. So is the mooring, the cable, the permit and the vessel time. Asking one of them to carry three sources instead of one is a different kind of improvement, and it is the one NoviOcean went after. The future of offshore energy will not be single-source systems. It will be hybrid. Jan G. Skjoldhammer, founder and CEO What one platform carries Wave &#8212; the NoviOcean power take-off, a float that rises with the wave and drives a Pelton turbine through pressurised water. The Pelton wheel has run hydropower plants for well over a century; the only innovation is where the pressure comes from. Wind &#8212; compact vertical-axis turbines on the deck, which work well in close arrangements and in the lower wind layers. Solar &#8212; lightweight flexible CIGS panels across the deck, chosen for low shading sensitivity and marine suitability. Not tidal. NoviOcean is a wave, wind and solar platform, and the site says so consistently. How the three fit together is on Technology Ecosystem. 2&#215; the energy of offshore wind from the same sea area. Sea space is finite and increasingly contested; this is the number that matters when it is. modeled The part that is easy to miss The three sources do not arrive at the same time. Solar peaks at midday. Wind runs on its own weather cycle. Waves keep going long after the wind has dropped, because water carries so much more mass than air &#8212; and as the waves fade, the wind systems are usually rebuilding. Fewer hours with everything low at once means less storage and less backup bought to cover the gaps, and storage is where the system cost hides. The production profiles behind that argument are on Key Advantages. Where it stands This is a programme, not a product catalogue. The 1:5 hybrid prototype ran offshore at Svanholmen for fourteen months. measured The NO3 triple-hybrid demonstrator is the current stage. The full-scale Medi Wave 850H pilot is the next major phase, planned for 2027&#8211;2028. projected What has been validated, and what has not, is set out plainly on Validation. This is the written version, plus the machine that came out of it: the Medi Wave 850H, designed for the medium and low wave conditions that cover most of the world&#8217;s coastlines. The Medi Wave 850H. For illustration only &#8212; the actual design is shared in closer dialogues. The original post carried a four-minute film about combining wave, wind and solar on one offshore structure. The argument in it has not changed, and it is short: an offshore project spends most of its money on things that are not the generator, and those things can be shared. What has changed is that the argument now has a specific machine attached to it. Medi Wave 850H Built on the same validated principles as the earlier, larger design, but aimed at medium and low wave conditions &#8212; which is most of the world&#8217;s coastline, including the Asia-Pacific region and the global east coasts. A high-energy machine is the wrong tool for a moderate sea; the Medi Wave is the right one. Rated 850&#160;kW: 300&#160;kW wave, 350&#160;kW wind, 200&#160;kW solar. management estimate Scalable from a single unit to offshore arrays, from 850&#160;kW to 5&#160;MW, with optional containerised desalination or battery storage on deck. What one unit corresponds to Over a year, one unit corresponds to approximately 2,500&#160;MWh of electricity modeled &#8212; or, where a site needs water more than power, desalination of 70,000&#8211;100,000 litres per hour. modeled Those are two descriptions of the same unit, not two outputs to be added together. Energy spent making water is energy that does not leave as electricity. The either/or is explained properly on Desalination &#38; Water Security. What it costs the customer Approximately 4&#8211;8&#160;c&#8364;/kWh at Stage&#160;A, the commercial pilot, falling to 2&#8211;5&#160;c&#8364;/kWh at fully commercial scale of 200&#8211;1,000 units. projected Those figures are unit-level generation cost, excluding site-specific infrastructure such as grid connection, export cabling or local permitting.
