Ports and harbors
Terminals, shore-power berths and yard equipment draw heavy, continuous power right at the water’s edge, which a moored platform can supply from the sea in front of the quay.
Applications
The same offshore platform supports far more than the four priority markets. The full opportunity set stays visible here.
The full set
NoviOcean counts approximately twelve credible applications for the same hybrid platform. Four are given priority because their customers are ready to talk now, and each of those has its own section on the Applications page. The eight below stay on the map: they are real routes to market, and any one of them can move forward with the right project partner and site.
The four priority applications
Beyond the priority four
Every one of them buys the same thing — steady power generated where it is used, from one moored structure instead of a separate offshore project for each source.
Terminals, shore-power berths and yard equipment draw heavy, continuous power right at the water’s edge, which a moored platform can supply from the sea in front of the quay.
Producing installations make their own electricity from diesel or gas turbines, and a co-moored hybrid unit can displace part of that fuel without a cable to shore.
Inside an existing wind lease the platform shares the consented sea area, the mooring pattern and the export cable, adding wave and solar output to a site that is already permitted.
Communities and resorts at the end of a long, weak line can generate locally instead of waiting for a longer line, with the equipment kept offshore rather than on scarce coastal land.
Electrolysis needs power and seawater in the same place, so the platform can feed an electrolyser directly instead of importing electricity from shore.
Coastal and island mining operations run large, constant loads on imported fuel, which is precisely the cost this platform is built to displace.
Where support mechanisms reward firm renewable output, arrays along a mainland coast can sell into the grid through one shared export connection.
Because each unit absorbs wave energy in order to generate, rows of platforms are being studied as a combined generation and shoreline-protection asset.
For illustration only — the actual design is shared in closer dialogues.
Impact per unit
Most of the sites on this page run on imported diesel today. The figures below are what a single hybrid unit is modelled to take out of that fuel bill.
modeled Per platform, from NoviOcean’s own system modelling. The real figure depends on the site, on the load being served and on the generation it replaces — a site-specific estimate is part of any first discussion.
Domestic value
The platform is welded steel and standard marine equipment, so the bulk of a unit can be built where it will operate instead of arriving complete in a container. For a government or a port authority, that changes what an energy project is worth locally.
Hulls and structures suit national shipyards and existing local suppliers, using conventional welded-steel marine construction rather than a specialised production line.
The work spreads across the marine, steel, electrical and offshore sectors, in yards and ports that already hold those skills.
A yard that builds units for its own coastline is positioned to supply neighbouring markets from the same facility.
Tell us the site, the load and the water depth. We will say plainly whether a NoviOcean platform fits it, and what a first project step would look like.
