NoviOcean in public
What NoviOcean is thinking, what we are building, and what is being written about us — collected in one place.
One destination
Company news, media coverage, interviews, videos, selected reports and the arguments we keep making — gathered here instead of scattered across separate pages. Every item opens the piece itself. Use the filter to read one kind at a time.
The world is not short of cheap generation. It is short of electricity that arrives when it is needed — wind and solar fail to deliver a large share of the time, and covering those gaps with storage or fossil backup is where the cost sits. Taking wave, wind and solar from one offshore structure narrows the gaps before storage is asked to.
One platform, one mooring, one cable, one permit — carrying three complementary sources instead of one. That is more output per structure and per unit of sea area than any single source delivers on its own offshore, and it is the whole reason the design looks the way it does.
Offshore test days, prototype operation and plain explanations of how a rising float becomes electricity. The video record of the programme, kept in one channel.
Six years of recorded conversations, films and press in one place: the episodes, the site visits, and the publications that have written about the platform.
A deep study on life-cycle assessment and environmental impact is available on request. Ask for it in a first conversation and we will share the current dated version.
NoviOcean joined the BAPSEA joint delegation visit to Singapore, organised by Business Sweden and the Swedish Energy Agency, and presented the hybrid platform at the Singapore–Sweden Innovation Forum during SIEW 2025.
NoviOcean presented on the emerging-technologies panel in Gujarat and held four meetings about what a first Indian pilot would take — power, desalinated water, and the offshore infrastructure that already exists.
Ten days, two countries, one subject: whether a hybrid wave, wind and solar platform can be built and financed where the electricity is expensive and the coastline is long.
WoodChuck.ai published a short clip in which Todd Thomas discusses NoviOcean’s approach: rather than building three offshore projects, put wave, solar and wind on one floating platform.
The Swedish investor publication InvestorNytt covered NoviOcean in April 2025, under a headline about producing offshore energy at a lower cost than wind.
Offshore wind, wave and solar have historically needed their own structures, their own moorings, their own cables and their own sea areas.
The interesting property of a hybrid offshore platform is not that it produces more. It is that it produces more steadily — and steadiness is what storage is normally bought to fake.
Most ocean-energy development still asks the same question: how do we make this one device better? NoviOcean’s founder asked a different one — why is there only one device on the structure?
A short film made the hybrid argument. This is the written version, plus the machine that came out of it: the Medi Wave 850H, designed for the medium and low wave conditions that cover most of the world’s coastlines.
